DGCOS Brand Ambassador George Clarke

Who is George Clarke?

George Clarke is an accomplished architect, TV presenter and home improvement champion. He first rose to fame in 2008 with his work on Channel 4’s The Restoration Man, after previously appearing on Channel 5, as a resident architect for Build a New Life in the Country.

He is also widely known for his work on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces and more recently Old House New Home.

A passionate advocate for high standards in the home improvement industry, George feels a sense of frustration by the lack of protection and the absence of insight, education and clarity for consumers.

How did George meet DGCOS?

In September 2018, our sister company HIES attended UK Construction Week at the NEC (National Exhibition Centre) in Birmingham as a part of the ‘Flexible Energy Information Centre’ offering advice to exhibitors on the new wave of flexible energy and information on supporting a sustainable future.

HIES' stand was located right next to the main stage in which George was hosting several Q&A’s and when he came over to visit us we spoke about our vision and promise. This lead on to shared horror stories of consumers being left disadvantaged, the issues we as an industry are facing, and how together, we can support consumers in navigating successfully a complex home improvement sector.

Why is George Clarke supporting DGCOS?

Building on from our conversations at UK Construction Week, we met with George at our offices to discuss working together on a range of different projects.

He expressed on several occasions how he had seen too many horror stories for consumer protection to continue to be ignored. George will work with us to ensure consumers are safe and protected when using one of our installers to carry out home improvements to their home.

George believes “Home is the most powerful form of architecture that affects us all, and if you are lucky enough to have a warm and comfortable roof over your head, it is a very special place indeed”.
